Frequently Asked Questions

What time of day is the session?

I believe that natural light, from the sun and its reflections, creates photographs that feel fresh, timeless and truest to you. I begin all portrait sessions 2 hours before the scheduled sunset during “the golden hour,” when the light is the dreamiest. While sunset is my preferred time of day, morning sessions are also available.

What should I wear?

I believe there is no such thing as “too dressed up” when it comes to your portrait session, so don’t be afraid to have some fun; now's the chance to do it! That being said, I want you to be comfortable and true to yourself. I will send you a detailed styling guide for your session after you the session is booked.

Do you select the location or do i, and where should that be?

The location of your portrait session is up to you! For most of my sessions, outdoor, open-air environments are always my first choice. I encourage you to brainstorm unique locations that you might have special access to that most people don’t. For example, maybe you, or someone you know, can secure permission to a location that would otherwise be off-limits, like a beautiful private estate, country club,  family ranch, or whatever else. If not, I have some great go-to locations around town that we can always hit too.

Can I incorporate my pet?

Abso-freakin-lutely!! Dogs and horses are some of my FAVORITE to shoot and incorporate in family and engagement sessions. I understand better than anyone that your pet is basically an additional family member so if you're game, let's do it!

Do you offer military or LEO discounts?

Yes of course I do. It is something I am happy to do. Please mention you are in the military or a LEO, past or present, when you inquire with me.

Are there travel fees?

Yes I do charge travel fees depending on the location of the session. I customize each quote to the specific details of each client and session. We can always ride to session locations together and become bffs along the way if you wish to evade the travel fee.

How do I pay?

All payments are scheduled and paid via credit or bank transfer  and outlined in the proposal I send over at the time of booking. I require a 20% non-refundable down payment to be paid at the time of booking and the remainder can be scheduled in any way that is most convenient for you. If you prefer to pay via check, cash, or other method, that is not a problem at all and can be discussed at the time of booking.

Are there any additional fees?

There is an additional $50 fee for sessions booked on Saturdays and Sundays as those days are much more in demand than weekdays.  I hope to encourage weekday bookings if possible to help alleviate the congestion of weekends and allow weddings and elopements priority. Additionally, if you decide to pay via credit card or bank transfer, there is a 3% processing fee added to your total. If you pay via cash, check, or venmo, then no processing fee is applied and I mark your payments as paid once I receive it from my end of things.

How far in advance do I book?

For weddings, I recommend booking as soon as possible to make sure you can align my availability with your chosen date and venue availability. For all other sessions, I recommend at least a few months but I always encourage clients to reach out anyways to see if we can fit one in. I HATE turning people away!
